2021 Annual Meeting

March 9, 2021

There were 11 residents in attendance and 0 who participated remotely.

Theresa Rusten opened the meeting at 7:00 PM.

Faye Bruckschen motioned to appoint Roger Schmidt as moderator, Joey Schauer second.  Motion carried.

Deputy Josh Fahey from the McLeod County Sherriff’s Department was present and introduced himself.  There was one concern brought to his attention with 4 wheelers.

Theresa Rusten read the 2020 Annual Meeting Minutes.  John Mohr motioned to approve the 2020 meeting minutes, Faye Bruckschen second the motion.  Motion unanimous.

Theresa Rusten presented a 2022 Levy Proposal. 

Road & Bridge -$63,000

General – $1000

Fire Protection – $1000

John Mohr motioned to approve the 2022 Levy Proposal, Mark Reinert second the motion.  Motion unanimous

Theresa Rusten presented the finance report and budget proposal for 2021. 

Mark Reinert motioned to approve the 2021 Financial Report and Budget Proposal, John Mohr second the motion.  Motion unanimous.

Joey Schauer, Trisha Zajicek & Chief Dale Kosek was present representing the Silver Lake Fire Department. Chief Dale Kosek provided the residents with a call report. Mr. Kosek also went through their budget report. 

The Silver Lake Fire Department is seeking a $13,217 contribution for 2021. John Mohr motioned to approve the $13,217 contribution, Marion Straechek second the motion. Motion unanimous.

Michelle Schneider Assistant Chief and Chief Steve Hackbarth were present representing the Silver Lake Ambulance.  Chief Hackbarth mentioned that there will be an increase in expenditures for 2021 due to limited staff and wage rate increase to the limited staff. He did mention the wage increase did help with bringing in more staff. Chief Hackbarth explained the budget. Bernard Koktan motioned to approve the silver lake ambulance contribution for $10,439 , Faye Bruckschen second the motion.  Motion unanimous.

Motion made by Faye Bruckschen to approve the monitor request for the Silver Lake Ambulance of $4000.00, ReNay Lentsch seconded the motion.  Motion unanimous.

Nick Eischens and Andy Windorff were present representing the Glencoe Fire Department. Mr. Eischens presented a brief report on the Glencoe Fire Dept. Glencoe Fire Department is seeking a $8,169.57 contribution. Mark Reinert motioned to approve the contribution of $8169.57, John Mohr seconded the motion.  Motion unanimous.

Daryl Luthens, County Commissioner was present.  Mr. Luthens presented a report covering the new county building, county expenditures proposed for 2021, tax levy comparison, budget factors, and snow plowing priority level and construction plan for 2021.

Theresa Rusten stated that the board will be discussing gravel and dust coating at tomorrow’s meeting.  There was one concern about the condition on Garden, north of the schoolhouse. The board will look at the area of concern.

Clean Up Week was discussed.

The regular meeting schedule was discussed.

Motion made by Faye Bruckschen to conduct the Annual Meeting at 7:00PM, at the Rich Valley Township Hall in 2022, James Hlavka second the motion.  Motion unanimous.

The proposed new fire permit process was discussed. 

During open discussion the purchase of fire equipment was discussed. 

Motion made by John Mohr to adjourn the meeting at 8:14 PM, Bernard Koktan second the motion.  Motion unanimous.
